Tuesday Tunes | This week's top 5

So over the years I've noticed my taste in music has evolved. It adapts and changes with the environment I'm in and the people I meet but I always bounce back to those throwback tunes that bring a mood of nostalgia. I guess I link memories to certain songs, or certain part of songs, is that the case with everyone or some?

Tunes that I've been loving this week are:

1) Jay Z ft Mr. Hudson  - Forever Young

Ever since Mr and Mrs. Carter did a duet to this on their On the Run tour, I've been once again hooked. I also lovee the piano interpretation from Sunny Choi where she incorporates Canon in D so beautifully.

2) Beuys Toys - Thimbles

Yes, this is the Very ad song! Me and my husband are hooked. We still trying to figure out the words to it haha.

3) Aaliyah - More Than A Woman

Its a classic and always on any of my playlists.

4) Meri Manaat Tu - Dawat e Ishq

Bollywood...ahem...The Hindi Film Industry...ahem is truly evolving. At times, there are directors that still try and westernise the film and characters and its all cringey but then theres true to India movies that really get me interested. Dawat e Ishq, although I haven't watched it, but I'm loving promos and songs released and I'm really liking this song.

5) ODESZA - Don't Stop

I'm really loving soundcloud music. Especially when I want music but lyrics ain't a must. I'm loving these ODESZA tunes.

What's your top 5 Nuri?

You need to stop with this 'Nuri' business Zahra, we're not in Year 11 anymore /crying emoji/

Hm, tunes that I'm loving this week? That's hard cos I haven't updated my iPod in about 3 weeks but ok I'm gonna give you guys a list of my top favourites both of all time n ones I've recently discovered

1) Akala - Fire in the Booth
Ok Akala is my one and only. For real, I discovered him about 18months ago after I saw a video of him debating with EDL leader, Tommy Robinson, on a talk show, here. I googled him n fell in love with him and his lyrics. He's so intelligent, self-aware and humble that you can't help but love his music. If I could, I'd give you a list of my 5 favourite Akala songs but I have to be unbiased. Fire in the Booth is definitely no. 1 in general n if that's up your street, I recommend West Side Story (Dub Pistols ft. Akala), Find No Enemy and The Thieves Banquet

ok /rant over/

2) Nicki Minaj - Marilyn Monroe
I went from hating Nicki to thinking she's a goddess to realising some of her/her work is problematic n that's where I'm at now. I feel like this song is really raw n probably almost anyone can relate to the feeling of not being enough for someone but then realising that if they 'can't handle my worst, they ain't getting my best' (...cheese-fest but those are the lyrics!)

3) Wham! - Last Christmas
Hello it's Christmas n whether you celebrate the day or not you know you're still gonna be jamming to these songs n watching Elf through the holidays...(also I might have a secret crush on '80s George Michael so sue me!)

4) Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You
Whitney is queen n if you haven't seen The Bodyguard then you need to so that this song can have you bawling even more (Rachel Marron + Frank Farmer 4eva)

5) Kanye West - Gold Digger
I went through the same think with Kanye as I did with Nicki n everyone knows this song is a classic n tbh it has me creasing

This was more of a rant than a sophisticated list but hope you guys enjoyed reading this
